« Who We Are

Philip G. May is a founding shareholder of May, Potenza, Baran & Gillespie, P.C., where he serves as President and Managing Partner. With more than four decades of experience resolving complex business disputes, Mr. May focuses on helping clients achieve efficient, strategic outcomes through alternative dispute resolution.

Drawing on a substantial background in commercial litigation, Mr. May brings a practical and informed perspective to mediation and arbitration. His experience spans a wide range of disputes, including construction matters, real estate litigation, partnership and shareholder conflicts, landlord-tenant issues, business torts, and professional liability claims. This depth of experience allows him to evaluate risk, anticipate litigation challenges, and guide parties toward resolution outside of the courtroom when appropriate.

As a trained mediator, Mr. May works closely with clients and opposing parties to facilitate productive dialogue and develop practical, cost-effective solutions. He is known for his steady, thoughtful approach, his ability to distill complex issues into clear paths forward, and his commitment to achieving outcomes that align with his clients’ business objectives.

Mr. May’s leadership within the firm and longstanding presence in the Arizona legal community further enhance his effectiveness in dispute resolution, where credibility, judgment, and professionalism are critical. Clients rely on him not only as an advocate, but as a trusted advisor in navigating challenging disputes.
