Jason Covault is a litigation partner at May Potenza Baran & Gillespie in Phoenix, Arizona, where he represents clients across a broad spectrum of heavily regulated industries, including mining, manufacturing, commercial construction, transportation, cannabis, and utilities. With over 18 years of experience, Jason focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and trial advocacy as a means of resolving lawsuits quickly.

Within his commercial and general litigation practice, Jason serves businesses of all sizes as both trial counsel in high-value disputes and outside general counsel. He actively prosecutes and defends cases involving breaches of contract and fiduciary duty, business torts, shareholder and partnership disputes, insurance coverage and bad faith claims, and professional negligence. In the environmental arena, Jason is litigating disputes involving CERCLA, NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, and water rights. He also handles commercial and environmental appeals before the Ninth Circuit and in the appellate courts of Arizona and Nevada.

As a former criminal prosecutor and seasoned trial lawyer, Jason has tried dozens of cases to verdict in state and federal courts. He frequently partners with other attorneys as outside lead trial counsel and collaborates on trial preparation and strategy, including conducting mock juries and focus groups to sharpen case themes and maximize trial success. Known for his courtroom tenacity, Jason prioritizes clear, candid communication and practical legal solutions tailored to each client’s business goals.
